Jacqueline South is a self taught artist, who has been drawing since primary school. After studying art at school, she decided to take a OND General Art & Design course at college and then a further HND in graphic design. After getting her Higher National diploma, Jacqueline took several employed jobs within the graphic design field, and finally took the plunge in 1993 and started her own business from home near Colchester in Essex; Jacqueline South - Design & Illustration.
Being able to give her clients both design and illustration has been a great benefit to her services. Not only can she design a business card or logo, but she can incorporate an illustration in there too! Working two sides of her business keeps Jacqueline busy and content, there is never a dull moment.
Jacqueline works in pencil, pastel and watercolour, and covers virtually all subjects. She works from photographs, either taken herself or given by her clients. Although trained as a designer, Jacqueline’s passion is her drawing. Time slips away as her creations appear on the surface in front of her. Starting with an eye, a face will slowly emerge, and in time, a beautiful illustration will be finished.
Jacqueline has also self published a large range of cards and Giclee prints which are available for sale through her website.
Jacqueline loves detail, as can be seen in her work, especially the buildings she has painted. “I love to get a realistic, almost photographic finish to my work, and it’s lovely to see the end result being so well received by the client”.
